Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill Champagne 1993

Golden with fine persistent bead. Toasty yeast, shortbread and honeyed peaches nose. Rich and full nutty biscuit palate and acid in perfect balance. Long finish with lovely pinot and lees characters. At peak. Épernay, Champagne, France 19/20 [tasted 02-01-2011]

Hint of toasty yeast, stone fruits and pinot character. A touch of sweetness on the palate but acid almost balances; stone fruits (white peach and apricot) and white florals. Long clean finish. Good for M&C – drinking now and will mellow further. For me, lacks elegance and delicacy. Épernay, Champagne, France 17/20 [tasted 25-12-2010]
