Bright clear red, no age showing. brambles on the front, then pepper and black berries/fruit and plum – but way too hot. Lovely deep red – far younger than its age. Lovely nose too. Cedar, red fruits, some blackcurrants and truffles. Round, rich, mellow. Lovely balance. Fruit, acid and oak all in balance. Ch d’Armailhac 1994

Quite deep robe, amber edge moving to the centre.  Eyes say ‘drink up’! Fruit reserved at first, dusty foresty but clean nose. Opens to reveal plums, blackcurrants and cherries. Te Mata Awatea 2002

Amber edge. Ribena blackcurrant nose with dark plums. Lovely mellow wine, good tannins and acid in balance. Ripe cabernet dark fruits and merlot plums. Long finish with moreish fruit lingering. Bright, mid-depth robe, slight amber edge. Nose initially fungal but blows off and fruit emerges – lovely florals. Age showing but elegant, delicate florals and red fruits.
